EPW - Lucien Dubois, Locle, minute repeater with four-year perpetual calendar and moonphase, 54mm, heavy 18K gold original Lucien Dubois HC with ornate monogram initials to front, small Jürgensen-style lips, signed gold cuvette with engraved 1883 date and ornate decorative detail, glazed mvt observation cover, white enamel quintuple-sunk dial with aperture for moonphase, SW-shift-locking-LS, fully capped lever escapement with counterpoise, 26-33J, fausses-côtes pattern nickel damascene, s#17520 within case. CONDITION:
Mvt: Running, good repeat function and tone, good calendar function and all advancing properly via adjustment tabs, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, some typical scattered fine to micro-fine scratches, steel disk around balance jewel with ultra-fine scratch striations presumably from past polishing; dial with evident past restoration with areas of soft enamel surface glaze including entirety of upper-left and of central area between calendar and moonphase registers, evident re-painting to portion of 11 numeral, patched chip within moonphase register's signature disk left of center, hl to lower portion of signature disk, two hls at upper edge above 12, tiny nick to right rim of perpetual calendar register, few scattered tiny surface nicks and micro-fine scratches; nearly mint hands; case shows very little wear, mild soft ding to lower center of rear, excellent engraving detail, case rear opens a bit short of 90 degrees (to approximately 80 degrees); tight bow, crown shows light wear with ridge break; good glass crystals. Box shows little wear, some crazing of exterior finish, small bits of surface loss to upper portion of front, interior of box with a thin section of wood that has chipped off as seen in photo and will be sent with lot.
